Overview

Angelica acid is a ferroptosis inducer targeting NRF2. It binds to the NRF2 protein and promotes its degradation via the ubiquitination-proteasome pathway, relieving the inhibitory effect of NRF2 on oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, inducing ferroptosis in tumor cells, enhancing intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, upregulating ferroptosis-related markers CHAC1 and PTGS2, and synergistically enhancing antitumor effects with ferroptosis inducers. It also has the activity of scavenging UVA-induced ROS in vitro, inhibiting skin fibroblast senescence and extracellular matrix degradation, and also helps wound healing and has pro-sedative activity.
