Sex control technology for rabbits

Summary

Sex pre-selection is a biotechnology that makes adult females produce sex-specific offspring through human intervention in the normal reproductive process of animals. Sex control technology is of great significance in livestock production. By controlling the sex ratio of the offspring, the maximum economic benefits of production traits limited by sex (e.g. lactation) and production traits affected by sex (e.g. growth rate, meat quality, etc.) can be fully utilized. Secondly, controlling the sex ratio of offspring can increase the intensity of selection and speed up the breeding process. Sex control can be achieved through sperm separation or embryo sexing.

Principle

The principle of controlling the sex of animals is mainly based on the differences between male and female germ cells of animals, especially animal spermatozoa. In higher animals, there are large differences between X and Y spermatozoa in terms of morphology and structure, weight and density, power distribution and electrical properties of surface membrane charge, antigenic immunity of spermatozoa, speed and vigor of motility, and acid and alkali resistance.

Unacidified treated Ringer's solution containing NaCl 0.82 g per 100 ml.
KCl 0.025 g, CaCl20.03 g, penicillin sodium salt 50,000-100,000 U.
Streptomycin 50-100 mg, dissolved in sterile double distilled water and pH adjusted to 4.0 with lactic acid.
③ Semen acidity adjusting solution: each 100 ml contains 3.6 g of glucose, 0.59 g of trisodium citrate, KH, PO20.072 g, 50,000-100,000 U of penicillin sodium salt, 50-10 mg of streptomycin, dissolved in sterile double-distilled water, and pH adjusted to 5.0 with lactic acid.
④ Chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).

Move

The basic process of gender control in rabbits can be divided into the following steps:

1. Vaginal treatment The female rabbit was made to lie on its back after natural estrus, and 5 ml of acidic douche solution (pH 4.0) was injected into its vagina and kept for 5 minutes; after release, it was mated once with a male free of the same breed. Incubate to 35 ℃ when used.

2. Semen treatment The semen of male rabbits was diluted with semen acidic adjustment solution, and 0.8 ml of diluted semen after acidification (pH 5.5) was used for artificial insemination, and the depth of insemination was 8~9 cm.

Immediately after the insemination, 50 U of chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) was injected into the rabbit to stimulate ovulation. The acidic adjustment solution of semen contained 3.6 g of glucose, 0.59 g of trisodium citrate, 0.072 g of KH,PO20, 50,000-100,000 U of penicillin sodium salt, and 50-10 mg of streptomycin per 100 ml, which was dissolved in sterile double-distilled water, and the pH was adjusted to 5.0 with lactic acid.
