Overview

RNA can be sourced from a variety of materials, and numerous methods exist for its extraction and preparation. Commonly used techniques include the phenol method, the detergent method, and the guanidine hydrochloride method, among which the phenol method is the most widely employed. This product (RNA extraction reagent) contains phenol and guanidinium isothiocyanate, among other components, which rapidly lyse cells or tissues and inactivate nucleases, thereby preserving RNA integrity. After the addition of chloroform and centrifugation, the solution separates into three phases: the upper aqueous phase (colorless), the interphase, and the lower organic phase (red). Total RNA is recovered from the upper aqueous phase by isopropanol precipitation, DNA is precipitated from the interphase with ethanol, and proteins are precipitated from the lower organic phase with isopropanol. This product is suitable for rapid isolation of total RNA from various tissues or cells, and can handle either small samples (50–100 mg tissue or 5×10⁶ cells) or large samples (>1 g tissue or >10⁷ cells). The extracted total RNA is of high quality and can be used for Northern blot, Dot blot, poly(A)⁺ RNA selection, in vitro translation, RNase protection assays, and molecular cloning experiments. The kit features broad applicability, simple operation (the entire process can be completed within 1 hour), high purity, and low contamination. This reagent is intended for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnosis or other applications.
