Bromocresol Purple, also known as dibromo-o-cresolsulfonphthalein, has the molecular formula C₂₁H₁₆Br₂O₅S and CAS No. 115-40-2. This product is a 1.6% solution of Bromocresol Purple in anhydrous ethanol, ready for immediate use. Bromocresol Purple is an acid-base indicator with a color transition range of pH 5.2 (yellow) to 6.8 (purple), exhibiting sensitive color changes in the weakly acidic to neutral range. This product can be used as a pH indicator in microbial culture media, including media for Lactococcus lactis. It also serves as an adsorption indicator, a non-aqueous titration indicator, and is applicable in biochemical assays such as amino acid chromatography internal standards, silver salt titration of thiocyanates, and spectrophotometric precipitation of serum proteins. Note: The solvent is anhydrous ethanol, which is flammable; keep away from ignition sources and heat. This product is an irritant; wear gloves during handling and avoid contact with eyes, skin, and mucous membranes. For research use only. Not for other applications.
