Summary
The forced swimming test is used with rats, mice, or other laboratory animals to provide an inescapably oppressive environment by placing the animal in a confined environment (e.g., water) in which the animal desperately tries to escape but is unable to do so, and after a period of time the animal exhibits the typical "immobility state".
