Vue d’ensemble

La saponine est un métabolite secondaire qui facilite la pénétration des protéines à travers la membrane cellulaire. Des études indiquent que les saponines sont des glycosides amphipathiques qui peuvent agir comme des agents hémolytiques. La recherche indique que la saponine présente des activités antinociceptives, anti-inflammatoires et antipyrétiques, qui peuvent être dues à sa fraction non glycosidique, la sapogénine. La saponine peut également être utilisée dans la recherche environnementale pour récupérer le chrome et d'autres métaux dans des échantillons de boues. D'autres études indiquent que la saponine est utile dans les tests immunologiques car elle peut stimuler la réponse immunitaire Th1 et la production de lymphocytes T cytotoxiques en réponse à des antigènes exogènes.
