Sodium deoxycholate (also known as sodium desoxycholate, CAS: 302-95-4, molecular weight: 414.55) is a commonly used biochemical reagent. This product is a 10% sodium deoxycholate solution, classified as an ionic detergent. It effectively lyses cells and solubilizes poorly soluble proteins, and is widely used in protein extraction and cell lysis procedures. It is also applied in the microbial bile solubility test. Bile salts, through their surfactant properties, activate bacterial autolytic enzymes, accelerating the autolysis of susceptible organisms such as Streptococcus pneumoniae. For bile solubility identification tests, the sodium deoxycholate solution (10%, pH 7.0) formulation is recommended.
Note: This product is an ionic surfactant; vigorous shaking may generate persistent foaming. It is irritant; wear gloves during handling and avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.
