cis-ACCPは、IV型コラーゲン特異的MMP-2およびMMP-9の可逆的かつ競合的阻害剤であり、MMP-2に優先的に作用する（それぞれIC|50|=4および20μM）。100μMで、cis-ACCPはin vitroでマトリゲルでコートした膜を越える腫瘍細胞の浸潤を90％阻止した。マトリックスメタロプロテアーゼ（MMPs）はプロテアーゼファミリーに属し、細胞外マトリックスタンパク質を分解することにより組織の修復とリモデリングに重要な役割を果たし、その結果細胞の遊走を可能にする。MMPの過剰発現は、関節炎、癌、骨粗鬆症、動脈硬化などの疾患と関連している。
