Summary

Recognize the morphological structure of viruses under the electron microscope, observe the viral inclusion bodies and grasp their diagnostic significance; understand the three methods commonly used to culture viruses; observe the cytopathic effect of viruses (CPE) Morphological diagnosis of viruses, one is to use the electron microscope to directly observe its morphological characteristics to help diagnosis; the second is to use the light microscope to observe the characteristics of inclusion bodies through smear or section staining to assist in the diagnosis of viral infections.

1. Electron microscopic observation of the virus

Observe electron micrographs of adenoviruses, rotaviruses, and herpes simplex viruses, noting their morphology, arrangement, size, and their structure.

2. observation of viral inclusion bodies

Observe the inclusion bodies of rabies virus and respiratory syncytial virus (or measles virus) formed after infection of host cells by HE (hematoxylin eosin staining) with high magnification or oil microscope, note the size, morphology, location and staining of the inclusion bodies in the cells, and draw a diagram to show the results.
