Safranin O is a cationic dye that binds to polyanions. Basophilic cartilage binds to the basic dye Safranin O and stains red. It is often used in combination with Fast Green to visualize cartilage, based on the binding of the cationic dye to the anionic groups in mucopolysaccharides. Eosinophilic bone binds to the acidic dye Fast Green and stains green or blue, creating a sharp contrast with the red-stained cartilage, thus distinguishing cartilage tissue from bone tissue. Safranin O can also be used for staining plant specimens and mast cells. This reagent is for research use only (RUO) and not intended for clinical diagnosis or any other purposes.
Operating Procedures (For Reference Only):
1. Operate according to specific experimental requirements or refer to the procedures for Modified Safranin O-Fast Green Cartilage Stain (I774551).
2. When used alone, staining usually takes 1–2 minutes.
Staining Results:
| Cartilage matrix, cytoplasm | Red |
Precautions:
1. For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves when operating.
2. Please use the reagent as soon as possible after opening to avoid affecting subsequent experimental results.
