Panoramica

Il trasporto di elettroliti e fluidi nel rene è regolato in parte dall'acido arachidonico e dai suoi metaboliti. il (±)16-HETE è la versione racemica di un metabolita minore del CYP450 dell'acido arachidonico rilasciato dal rene in seguito alla stimolazione dell'angiotensina II. L'attività biologica del 16-HETE è stereospecifica. il 16(R)-HETE stimola in modo dose-dipendente la vasodilatazione del rene di coniglio e non influisce sulla pressione di perfusione. A una concentrazione di 2 μM l'enantiomero (S)- del 16-HETE inibisce l'attività dell'ATPasi del tubulo prossimale fino al 60%, mentre l'isomero (R)- ha effetti trascurabili sull'attività dell'ATPasi.
