Silanized glass slides undergo chemical modification of the glass surface to alter its physicochemical properties, enabling tissue sections or cells to adhere firmly to the glass and prevent detachment caused by various factors such as high temperature and high pressure during antigen retrieval. Slides treated with silanization exhibit hydrophobicity.
3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APES) is a novel glass slide adhesive. It modifies the physicochemical properties of the glass surface through chemical treatment, which can effectively prevent tissue detachment during various experimental operations. Slides treated with APES can be widely used in immunohistochemistry, special staining, frozen sectioning, cell culture technology, in situ hybridization and other research fields. This reagent is for research use only (RUO) and not intended for clinical diagnosis or any other applications.
Operating Procedures (For Reference Only)
1. Prepare APES slide silanization reagent: Mix acetone, ethanol or other solvents with APES Adhesion Promoter at a volume ratio of 98:2.
2. Washing: Immerse the glass slides in the prepared APES slide silanization reagent for 10 seconds, then rinse with a washing solution (acetone, ethanol or other solvents) for 10 seconds, and finally rinse in DEPC-treated water.
3. Dry the slides in the air and store them at 4 ℃ (it is recommended to wrap them with aluminum foil to avoid contamination).
Precaution
1. APES Adhesion Promoter is slightly toxic; handle with care to avoid skin contact or inhalation.
2. For your safety and health, wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
3. Use the reagent as soon as possible after opening to prevent adverse effects on subsequent experimental results.
