When some tissues contain bone or calcified foci, calcium‑containing tissues should not be directly embedded in paraffin for sectioning. This is due to the density difference between calcium and paraffin, which makes it difficult to obtain intact sections. For calcium‑containing tissues, decalcification is preferably performed after fixation, or fixation and decalcification can be carried out simultaneously. Subsequent procedures such as dehydration, clearing, wax infiltration, embedding and sectioning are then performed. A variety of reagents are available for decalcification, including organic acids, inorganic acids, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), and electrolytic decalcification. During decalcification, the degree of decalcification should be monitored at regular intervals to avoid over‑decalcification. Over‑decalcification will aggravate tissue damage and further affect staining results.
This product consists of ammonia solution, ammonium oxalate and other components. The absence of precipitate after adding ammonium oxalate indicates that the decalcification endpoint has been reached. This reagent is for research use only and is not intended for clinical diagnosis or other applications.

Procedure (For Reference Only)
1. Take 5 mL of the in‑use decalcifying solution, add 1 mL of ammonia solution, and mix thoroughly.
2. Add 0.1 mL of ammonium oxalate solution and mix thoroughly.
3. Observe for precipitate formation. If decalcification is incomplete, precipitate formation indicates effective decalcification. No precipitate after addition of ammonium oxalate indicates that the decalcification endpoint has been reached.
Notes
1. This method is not suitable for decalcification by ion‑exchange resin method or EDTA method.
2. Monitor the degree of decalcification at regular intervals to avoid over‑decalcification. Over‑decalcification will exacerbate tissue damage and affect staining results.
3. For your safety and health, wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
