mouse embryo transfer

Summary

Mouse embryo transfer is the formation of single-cell to blastocyst stage embryos 0.5-3.5 days after mating, which can be transferred into the reproductive tract of pseudopregnant females to continue their development. The so-called pseudopregnant rats used as embryo transfer recipients are prepared by mating naturally estrous females with ligated vas deferens or genetically sterile males. There are intrafallopian tube embryo transfers and intrauterine embryo transfers. Pseudopregnant rats 0.5 days after seeing the bolus were used to perform the oviductal transfer, and those 2.5 days after seeing the bolus were used for the uterine transfer. For single-cell and 2-cell embryos with zona pellucida, which are best suited for oviductal transfer, zona pellucida-free embryos should be cultured to the mulberry embryo stage prior to transfer to the oviduct.
