Panoramica

Balanced Salt Solution (BSS) matches the environmental conditions such as pH value and osmotic pressure required for cell growth. It functions to maintain osmotic pressure, regulate acid-base balance, and supply energy and inorganic salt components essential for cell survival and metabolism. BSS can meet the basic needs of cell survival and sustained metabolism in in vitro experiments. It is mainly composed of inorganic ions, and sometimes contains sodium bicarbonate, glucose, phenol red, etc. If necessary, HEPES can also be added to maintain osmotic pressure balance. Balanced Salt Solution can be used as the base solution of complete medium, or for diluting concentrated amino acid and vitamin solutions to prepare complete medium. The formulation of BSS is often modified. For example, Hank's BSS is available in variants without calcium, magnesium or phenol red, as well as those containing calcium, magnesium and phenol red; Dulbecco's PBS also has versions with or without calcium and magnesium. HBSS, EBSS, PBS and others are all salt solutions related to weakly buffered phosphate solutions. Common balanced salt solutions include Earle's solution, Hank's solution, Phosphate-Buffered Saline (PBS) and so on.
PBS-EDTA Buffer (4×PE, pH 7.4) is one of the commonly used phosphate-buffered solutions. It is mainly composed of EDTA, Na₂HPO₄, NaH₂PO₄, etc., with a pH value of approximately 7.4. This reagent has undergone autoclaving sterilization. It is often used for chelating metal ions (especially Ca²⁺, Mg²⁺) and can also be applied in the detection of nuclear import of substances. This reagent is a 4× concentrated solution and should be diluted to 1× working concentration before use. This reagent is for research use only and not intended for clinical diagnosis or any other purposes.
Operating Procedures (for reference only)
1. Operate according to the specific requirements of the experiment.
2. It should generally be diluted to 1× working concentration before use.
Precautions
1. Ensure aseptic operation to avoid microbial contamination.
2. This reagent has been autoclaved. Please use the reagent as soon as possible after opening to prevent affecting the results of subsequent experiments.
3. For your safety and health, wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
