Panoramica
Gastric pepsin is secreted by the chief cells of the gastric mucosa and breaks down proteins in food into small peptides. It is commonly used in the differential diagnosis of neurogenic hypoacidity; a decrease in pepsin secretion can also be caused by conditions such as chronic gastritis, chronic gastric dilatation, and chronic duodenitis. This product is suitable for detecting biological samples such as animal tissues. In this kit, pepsin catalyzes the hydrolysis of hemoglobin. The hydrolysis products react with the Folin reagent to develop a blue color. Within a certain range, the intensity of the color is proportional to the pepsin activity.
