Panoramica
Phosphopentomutase (EC 5.4.2.7), derived from E. coli, catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group between the C1 and C5 positions of pentoses (a reversible isomerization reaction).
Reaction scheme
Ribose‑5‑phosphate → Ribose‑1‑phosphate
Procedure
1.Thaw the enzyme at 4 °C or on ice. Mix well before use. After dissolution, avoid repeated freeze‑thaw cycles; the enzyme can be stored briefly at 2–8 °C (within 24 h).
2.Add the substrate to the reaction system. An appropriate buffer salt (e.g., Tris‑HCl) may be added to adjust the pH to 7.5, then add an appropriate amount of Phosphopentomutase (adjust according to reaction requirements).
3.After mixing, incubate the sample at 37 °C for 1–4 h.

What does Recombinant mean?
Recombinant is a defined analytical purity tier suitable for workflows requiring a specific validated property. It specifies a minimum assay percentage, controlled limits on common impurities (water, heavy metals, residue on ignition), and lot-to-lot consistency. Recombinant is one of several purity tiers — choose based on the sensitivity and regulatory requirements of your method.
