Panoramica

Nitrate nitrogen refers to the nitrogen element contained in nitrates. Organic matter in the soil decomposes to form ammonium salts, which are oxidized into nitrate nitrogen. As one of the primary forms of nitrogen absorbed by higher plants, the nitrate nitrogen content in soil directly affects crop yield and quality. Testing Principle: Under strongly acidic conditions, NO₃⁻ reacts with salicylic acid to form nitrosalicylic acid. In an alkaline environment (pH > 12), nitrosalicylic acid exhibits a yellow color. Within a certain range, the intensity of the color is proportional to its concentration, allowing for the quantitative determination of nitrate nitrogen content through colorimetric measurement.
