Panoramica

Soil Nitrite Reductase is one of the key enzymes in the denitrification process, catalyzing the reduction of nitrite to nitric oxide (NO). Its activity reflects the transformation efficiency of nitrogen during biodegradation and provides a basis for studying the patterns of nitrogen conversion. Assay Principle: Nitrite reductase reduces nitrite (NO₂⁻) to NO, thereby decreasing the amount of NO₂⁻ available to participate in the diazotization reaction that forms a purplish-red compound. Consequently, the change in absorbance at 540 nm reflects the activity of soil nitrite reductase.
