This product is specially designed for the collection and ambient‑temperature transportation of samples containing coronavirus, influenza virus, hand‑foot‑and‑mouth virus, measles‑rubella virus and other viruses, facilitating sample transport and off‑site testing.
This product features the following characteristics:
1. It contains virus‑inactivating reagents with rapid reaction speed, which can inactivate viruses (effective against all types of DNA and RNA viruses) within several minutes to render them non‑infectious.
2. It contains highly‑effective nuclease‑inactivating reagents and special nucleic acid protectants, which can rapidly inactivate various nucleases including DNase and RNase to eliminate the risk of nucleic acid degradation. It ensures no significant degradation of nucleic acids within 4 days at ambient temperature. Samples stored for more than 4 days shall be stored and transported at ‑20 °C.
3. Suitable for the collection, preservation and transportation of samples collected with various swabs, including oral swabs, throat swabs, nasal swabs, vaginal swabs, etc.
4. Preserved samples can be directly used for subsequent nucleic acid purification and testing.
5. Viruses in samples preserved with this product have been inactivated; the samples cannot be used for virus culture.
6. This product is for research‑only use.
7. This product is a 10‑fold concentrated virus preservation solution. It shall be diluted 10‑fold with ultrapure water, and the diluted solution shall be used for sample preservation.
Instructions for Use
Note: Although this product contains virus‑inactivating agents, viral contamination on the outer surface of the centrifuge tube during sampling cannot be excluded. Operators must take appropriate protective measures as required for handling infectious samples, and all operations must be performed in laboratories complying with national regulations. This product has bacteriostatic properties; however, contamination during aliquoting into sampling tubes cannot be completely ruled out. Appropriate sterilization treatment is recommended before and after aliquoting.
1. Dilute this product 10‑fold to prepare 1× preservation solution. For example, to prepare 10 L of virus preservation solution, take 1 L of this product and add 9 L of ultrapure water, then stir thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
2. Aliquot the prepared 1× preservation solution. Fill‑volume specification: 3 mL (1‑swab‑1‑tube configuration); 6 mL (5‑swab‑1‑tube and 10‑swab‑1‑tube configurations).
3. Before sampling, label the sampling tube pre‑filled with virus preservation solution with relevant sample information.
4. Collect samples from corresponding sites using sampling swabs according to sampling requirements. Specific sampling procedures are described below:
a) Nasal swab: Gently insert the swab tip into the nasopalatine region of the nasal passage, hold for a moment, rotate slowly and withdraw.
b) Throat swab: Swab both palatine tonsils and the posterior pharyngeal wall with the swab, then withdraw.
c) Urethral sampling: For males, insert the swab approximately 2 cm into the urethra, rotate, hold for several seconds and withdraw. For females, remove mucus at the cervical orifice, insert the swab 1‑2 cm into the cervical canal and withdraw.
d) Other swab sampling methods: Not detailed in this manual.
5. Immediately place the swab into the sampling tube containing virus preservation solution, and rotate the swab inside the tube for 15 seconds.
6. Break the swab at the break‑point, discard the handle segment, and tighten the tube cap.
7. Freshly‑collected specimens shall be transported to the laboratory within 96 hours (4 days) at 4 °C‑25 °C. Specimens that cannot be delivered to the laboratory within 96 hours shall be stored at ‑70 °C or below; DNA‑containing samples may alternatively be stored at ‑20 °C.
