The H2Se (or HSe⁻) generated in situ from
Se/DMF/H2O serves as an active reducing species. This reduction system, utilizing water as a cost-effective, safe, and eco-friendly hydrogen donor, demonstrated high selectivity and excellent activity in reducing α,β-unsaturated ketones and alkynes.
