Glutathione reductase (GR) is a canonical flavin-dependent oxidoreductase that catalyzes the reduction of oxidized glutathione (GSSG) to reduced glutathione (GSH) using NADPH as the electron donor, thereby maintaining the steady state of the intracellular GSH/GSSG redox-buffering system.
