Materials and Instruments
Guinea pigs Move 1. Tracheal ring specimen: 1 guinea pig, weighing 500g, killed with a wooden mallet, immediately cut the skin and subcutaneous tissues from the ventral surface, carefully separated the trachea, cut off the whole section of trachea from under the thyroid cartilage, put it into a petri dish containing Kerbs nutrient solution, and cut off the tissues around the trachea. The trachea was transected from anterior to posterior and from posterior to anterior between the cartilaginous rings, both of which were left incompletely severed with a small segment preserved. Approximately 10 to 15 transections were made from top to bottom. The ends are then sutured to the wire, one end secured and the other pulled apart to form the tracheal connective ring.2. Tracheal spiral strip specimen Trachea from one end to the other end of the spiral cut into strips, every 2 ~ 3 cartilage ring cut a spiral. Can also use a 2 ~ 3mm diameter glass rod or bamboo stick, the trachea set on its own, with scissors cut into or with a scalpel cut into a spiral. The whole spiral strip can be used as an experimental specimen, or half of the spiral strip can be used to make a specimen. Caveat When separating the trachea and making specimens of tracheal spiral strips, be agile and gentle, and do not injure the smooth muscle of the trachea with forceps.
