Plants mainly absorb phosphorus in the form of orthophosphate (H₂PO₄⁻). Therefore, the content of available phosphorus in soil is an important indicator for evaluating the soil's phosphorus-supplying capacity and has direct guiding significance for rational fertilization. This kit employs the molybdenum-antimony colorimetric method for the determination of available phosphorus content in soil. The principle is as follows: available phosphorus in soil reacts with ammonium molybdate under acidic conditions to form phosphomolybdic heteropoly acid, which is then reduced by ascorbic acid in the molybdenum-antimony color reagent to generate a blue phosphomolybdenum blue complex. This product exhibits a characteristic absorption peak at 700 nm. Within a defined linear range, the absorbance of the reaction solution at 700 nm is proportional to the available phosphorus content in the soil. By constructing a standard curve, the available phosphorus content in the sample can be quantitatively calculated.
