1,1-Diphenyl-2-trinitrophenylhydrazine (DPPH) is a stable free radical. It appears as dark purple prismatic crystals with a melting point of 127–129°C (decomposition) and a maximum absorption wavelength of 528 nm. This product is supplied as a 0.1% DPPH solution in ethanol, ready for immediate use. It serves as an analytical reagent for the photometric determination of reducing substances such as tocopherols and aliphatic thiols, and is also commonly used as a polymerization inhibitor. This product is intended for scientific research use by professionals only. It must not be used for clinical diagnosis or treatment, nor for food or pharmaceutical purposes.
