Sucrose invertase (Invertase, Ivr) catalyzes the irreversible decomposition of sucrose into fructose and glucose and is one of the key enzymes in sucrose metabolism in higher plants. Based on its optimal pH, Ivr is classified into two types: acid invertase (AI) and neutral invertase (NI). This kit provides a simple, convenient, and rapid method for detecting soil neutral invertase (S-NI) activity, suitable for soil samples. The principle is that S-NI catalyzes the decomposition of sucrose to produce reducing sugars, which further react with 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid to form a reddish-brown amino compound. This compound exhibits characteristic light absorption at 540 nm, and within a certain range, the absorbance at 540 nm is proportional to the amount of reducing sugars generated. The activity of S-NI is calculated based on the rate of increase in light absorption.
