Total Ionic Strength Adjustment Buffer (TISAB) is a dedicated buffer system for ion-selective electrode potentiometric analysis, formulated with inert strong electrolytes, pH buffer pairs, and metal masking agents. It serves three core functions: ① maintaining constant total ionic strength between samples and standard solutions to ensure consistent ion activity coefficients, thereby eliminating measurement deviations caused by ionic strength variations; ② stabilizing the system pH to ensure that target ions exist in a detectable free form; ③ complexing and masking interfering metal ions such as Fe³⁺ and Al³⁺, releasing the complexed target ions and effectively reducing matrix interferences.
This product is primarily used in conjunction with the fluoride ion-selective electrode method for the determination of fluoride content in water, soil, food, and other samples. It can also be applied in potentiometric detection experiments with other ion-selective electrodes, and is widely used in environmental monitoring, physicochemical analysis, and teaching and research laboratories.
Note: Wear gloves during handling and avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. For research use only. Not for clinical diagnosis.
