Antipsychotics and Antidepressants

Aladdin provides a wide selection of bioactive antipsychotic and antidepressant compounds for use in research models. Many of these agents influence dopamine signaling by blocking one or more dopamine receptor subtypes or inhibiting dopamine transporters. Our catalog includes first-generation (typical) antipsychotics such as Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride (C131611 C129569) and Haloperidol (H113852), as well as second-generation (atypical) antipsychotics including Clozapine (C126883) and Risperidone (R127644).

Another important category in our neuroactive compound offerings consists of antidepressants, which generally act to prolong neurotransmitter activity in the brain. These compounds frequently target serotonin receptors, dopamine receptors, ion channels, or neurotransmitter transporters. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) work by preventing the presynaptic reuptake of serotonin into neurons, thereby increasing its availability to interact with serotonin receptors. Fluoxetine Hydrochloride (F131623) and Paroxetine Hydrochloride Hemihydrate (P129711) are two SSRIs widely used in research applications.

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) represent another class of antidepressants. These agents inhibit monoamine oxidase, an enzyme responsible for breaking down serotonin and dopamine. By blocking this enzyme, MAOIs raise neurotransmitter levels, enabling greater receptor activation and supporting signal transmission involved in reward, reinforcement, learning, and memory. Aladdin carries several MAOIs, including Tranylcypromine Hydrochloride (R132818) and Moclobemide (M118359).
