Krebs-Henseleit Solution is a balanced salt solution developed by the renowned biochemist Krebs and his student Henseleit. Its main ingredients consist of sodium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, magnesium sulfate, calcium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and glucose. It is applicable to various tissues of mammals, and widely used for perfusion of isolated tracheal strips, isolated hearts and livers. This solution contains calcium and magnesium ions, which may cause slight precipitation. Sediments can generally dissolve after warm bathing. Discard the solution if excessive precipitates fail to dissolve completely. This ready-to-use product has been sterile filtered and can be applied directly without dilution or re-sterilization. Strict aseptic operation is required during use to prevent contamination.
