Overview

5-trans PGE2 is a naturally occuring compound and is a common impurity in commercial lots of PGE1, that shows a potency that is 18 times greater than PGE2 (5-cis PGE2) in cases of activation of adenylate cyclase in NCB-20 cell homogenates. Also has been shown to accelerate fibrinolysis by enhancing plasminogen activation mediated by tissue-type plasminogen activator, and to inhibit platelet aggregation in platelet rich plasma (PRP).
