Antibody Affinity Purification Neutralizing Buffer is a specially formulated buffer designed for antibody purification processes. After purifying antibodies using Protein A or Protein G affinity chromatography, low-pH acidic buffers are typically used to elute the antibodies from the resin. While this acidic environment effectively elutes the antibodies, prolonged exposure can easily lead to antibody denaturation, inactivation, or aggregation. The primary function of this neutralizing buffer is to rapidly raise the pH of the collected acidic antibody eluate to a neutral or near-neutral level, thereby immediately halting the damaging effects of the acidic conditions and maximizing the preservation of the antibody's biological activity and structural integrity. This is crucial for subsequent scientific research or applications.
