α-Bromophenylacetic acid can be used as a reactant to prepare: Polymandelide by reacting with triethylamine. α-Mercaptophenylacetic acid by treating with sodium hydrosulfide (NaSH·H2O). β-Lactams by reacting with imines in the presence of triphenylphosphine as a mediator.
