Overview

Amino Acid Sequence:Cys-Ser-Cys-Ser-Ser-Leu-Met-Asp-Lys-Glu-Cys-Val-Tyr-Phe-Cys-His-Leu-Asp-Ile-Ile-Trp [Disulfide Bridges: 1-15; 3-11]. Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is synthesized and secreted by activated endothelial cells, and is a peptide with potent vasoconstrictor activity. It is a marker for activated or dysfunctional endothelial cells. This peptide is one of the three isopeptides belonging to the endothelin family. It is also released by cardiomyocytes.
Endothelin-1 (ET-1) has been used to study the production and detection of H2O2 and production of NO in the presence of ET-1, for studying the effects of ET-1 on the eNOS/inducible NOS (iNOS)/caveolin-1 expression, NO production, isoform specific PKC translocation, and PKC activity in human saphenous vein endothelial cells (HSVECs).

Biochemical and Physiological Mechanisms
Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is a vasoconstrictor, which is increased in plasma and explants of patients with uterine leiomyomas. Thus, uterine fibroids are linked to increased ET-1 levels and hypertension, which is worsened by hypoxic condtions. ET-1 RNAi and End
Sequence
H-Cys-Ser-Cys-Ser-Ser-Leu-Met-Asp-Lys-Glu-Cys-Val-Tyr-Phe-Cys-His-Leu-Asp-Ile-Ile-Trp-OH (Disulfide bonds between Cys¹ and Cys¹⁵/Cys³ and Cys¹¹)
Note
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20°C. Generally, these will be useable for up to one week. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour. Toxic, refer to SDS for further information.
