Overview
Ethyl Red is a single acid-base indicator with the molecular formula C₁₇H₁₈N₃O₂ and molecular weight 297.35. Its color transition range is pH 4.5–6.5: below pH 4.5 it appears red, above pH 6.5 it turns yellow, with a clear and distinct color change, making it suitable for visual pH assessment in the weakly acidic range.
It can be used in physicochemical titration experiments, visual pH screening of buffer systems, and educational chemistry demonstrations for rapid assessment of pH changes.
Note: This product is intended for visual qualitative indication only and cannot replace precise pH meter measurements. It is an irritant; wear gloves during handling and avoid contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes.
For research use only. Not for clinical diagnosis.
