Depopulation Animal Models
Depopulation Animal Models
Animal models of castration, mostly in rats or mice, involve surgical removal of the testes.
Operation method
Establishment of depopulation animal models
Materials and Instruments
Equipment: Move A. Male rats were subjected to bilateral orchiectomy under sodium pentobarbital anesthesia. For more product details, please visit Aladdin Scientific website.
① Common surgical instruments
② Suture
③ Electrical stimulator.
Reagents:
① Sodium pentobarbital;
① Penicillin.
B. Penicillin was injected intramuscularly with 20,000 U/kg for 3 consecutive days, and then administered in groups once a day for 15-30 consecutive days.
C. One hour after the last administration, the stimulating electrodes of the electrostimulator were placed on the penile area of the rats (one electrode was placed at the external orifice of the urethra, and the other electrode was placed on the skin of the penis), and the electrostimulation was applied at a frequency of 50 Hz and a wave width of 1 mm, and the current intensity of 4 mA was recorded. The frequency of the stimulation was 50 Hz, the wave width was 1 mm, and the current intensity was 4 mA, and the time from the beginning of the stimulation to penile erection (erectile latency) was recorded. The effect of the drug on the sexual function of the denuded rats can be observed at the same time.
D. One male rat was caged with two female rats, and the number of sniffing and licking and the number of times the male rats climbed over the female rats were observed within 20 minutes.
E. Finally, the animals were put to death, and blood was taken to determine the plasma testosterone and estradiol levels as well as the effects on the weights and morphology of the prostate gland, the seminal vesicles, the peritoneal glands, and the anorectal muscles.
