Overview

Trehalase (THL) (EC 3.2.1.28) is widely distributed in animals, plants, microorganisms, and cultured cells. The primary function of trehalase is to break down trehalose into glucose, which is then directly used for energy supply in organisms. This product is suitable for detecting biological samples such as animal and plant tissues, cells or fungi, serum (plasma), or other liquids. In this kit, THL catalyzes the conversion of trehalose to produce glucose. Glucose oxidase then catalyzes the oxidation of glucose to gluconic acid, producing hydrogen peroxide. Peroxidase catalyzes the oxidation of 4-aminoantipyrine coupled with phenol by hydrogen peroxide, generating a colored compound. This compound has a characteristic absorption peak at 505 nm, which is used to reflect THL activity.
