Overview

Cellulase (CL, EC 3.2.1.4) is widely distributed in bacteria, fungi and animals. It can catalyze the degradation of cellulose and represents a class of enzyme preparations with extensive applications in pharmaceuticals, food, textile, environmental protection, renewable resource utilization and other fields. This kit uses the anthrone colorimetric method to determine CL activity: CL catalyzes the hydrolysis of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na) to produce reducing sugars. Under the action of concentrated sulfuric acid, reducing sugars are dehydrated to form furan compounds, which react with anthrone reagent to yield a blue-green product with a characteristic absorption peak at 620 nm. The enzymatic activity of CL can be quantitatively calculated by measuring the increasing rate of absorbance at 620 nm.
