Creatine is an endogenous compound that functions to maintain a high ATP/ADP ratio in the body through phosphorylation by creatine kinase. Creatine supplements are used as exercise performance enhancers and also for the treatment of muscle and neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, creatine detection has broad applications in research and development.
This kit utilizes creatinase to specifically act on creatine to produce sarcosine. Sarcosine is then acted on by sarcosine oxidase to generate hydrogen peroxide, which reacts with a chromogenic agent to produce a (pink) red color. This colored substance has a maximum absorption peak at 520 nm, and the creatine content is calculated accordingly.
