Descripción general

  This product is a ready‑to‑use sterile anesthetic, with the active ingredient Tribromoethanol (TBE, also known as Avertin). It is a non‑controlled substance. This reagent has been recommended for anesthesia in surgical procedures related to transgenic mouse breeding, and is suitable for use in pregnant mice without affecting the pregnancy process or fetal viability. It is administered via intraperitoneal injection, making it simple and convenient to use. The anesthetic takes effect in <5 minutes and lasts for 24–90 minutes. It is intended only for anesthesia in rodent mice.

The above doses are based on our validation studies using common protocols. Actual dosage may need adjustment depending on mouse/rat age, strain, or individual variation. To extend anesthesia duration, a supplemental dose of one‑third of the initial dose may be administered. Users are advised to conduct pilot experiments according to their specific needs.

Precautions

1. After opening, it is recommended to use within 2 weeks. Prolonged storage may lead to precipitation or decomposition of components, reducing anesthetic efficacy or even causing peritonitis. Before use, always check the expiration date on the label and observe whether the solution has changed color or developed crystals. If crystals have formed, dissolve them in a 37°C water bath. Perform a pilot experiment before formal studies.

2. Recommended anesthetic doses:

  • ~4‑week‑old mice: 16 µL/g

  • ~6‑week‑old mice: 18 µL/g

  • Mice ≥8 weeks: 20 µL/g

  • (These are recommended starting doses; adjust according to actual conditions.)

To accelerate recovery, a heating pad may be used to raise the ambient temperature.
