About these documents
What is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)?
A Safety Data Sheet is a standardized 16-section GHS document describing a chemical's hazards, safe handling, storage conditions, personal protective equipment, first-aid measures, and transport classification. Laboratories are required to keep an SDS on file for every hazardous chemical under regulations such as OSHA HazCom and EU REACH. Aladdin provides a free SDS for every product, searchable by item number.
What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
A Certificate of Analysis reports the quality-control test results for one specific production lot — typically purity, appearance, water content, and identity confirmation against the specification. Because results differ between lots, a COA search requires both the item number and the lot/batch number printed on the label. QA teams use the COA to verify a reagent before use.
What is a Certificate of Origin (COO)?
A Certificate of Origin states the country in which a product was manufactured or substantially transformed. Importers and exporters use it for customs clearance, tariff and free-trade-agreement eligibility, and regulatory filings. Only the item number is needed to retrieve a COO.
How to download a COA in four steps
- Locate the item number on the product label (e.g. B184106) — ignore the pack size suffix.
- Locate the lot/batch number next to “Lot” or “Batch” on the same label.
- Open the Certificate of Analysis tab above, enter both values, and click Search COA.
- Download the lot-specific PDF — free, no account required.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find an SDS by item number?
Enter the Aladdin item number (for example B184106) without the pack size suffix. One Safety Data Sheet covers all pack sizes of a product, so B184106-5g and B184106-25g share the same SDS.
Where do I find the lot or batch number for a COA?
The lot/batch number is printed on the product label next to the word “Lot” or “Batch”. A Certificate of Analysis is lot-specific, so both the item number and the lot number are required.
Why does my lot number return no COA?
Enter the core lot code only. Drop filling codes and prefixes: 05427ES-021 becomes 05427ES, TO09019TO becomes 09019TO, and STBB0728K9 becomes STBB0728.
What is the difference between a COA and a COO?
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) reports lot-specific quality-control results such as purity and appearance. A Certificate of Origin (COO) states the country where the product was manufactured and is used for customs and trade compliance.
Do I need an account to download SDS, COA, or COO documents?
No. Aladdin Scientific provides SDS, COA, and COO documents free of charge, with no login required.
What if a document is not available online?
A small number of documents are not yet online. Contact Aladdin Technical Support with the item number (and lot number for COA) and the team will provide the document.
