Biotin labeled RNA probes can replace radiolabeled RNA probes in many applications, including in situ hybridization and chromosome localization. The biotinylated probe can be detected using various methods based on streptavidin binding, such as directly detecting labeled RNA using fluorescently labeled streptavidin; Alternatively, labeled RNA can be indirectly detected using streptavidin conjugated HRP, alkaline phosphatase, or streptavidin conjugated antibodies.
