Bovine Bile Salts are sodium bile salts refined from bovine bile. They act by reducing the surface tension at the interface between the culture medium and bacterial pellicle, disrupting cell membrane structure and accelerating bacterial autolysis. They are widely used as common selective inhibitors in microbial culture media to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive bacteria.
