Descripción general
Chalcone isomerase (CHI, EC 5.5.1.6) is the first enzyme recognized to be involved in the biosynthesis of flavonoids and is also one of the key enzymes in the flavonoid metabolic pathway. It is widely present in various plants and plays an important role in processes such as antibacterial mechanisms, stress resistance, cell development and differentiation, pigment accumulation, and exogenous gene expression.
Chalcone isomerase (CHI) catalyzes the conversion of chalcone to form flavanone. The enzyme activity of chalcone isomerase can be determined by measuring the initial rate of chalcone degradation.
