Operation method
Experiments on the morphological observation of ciliary movements in epithelial cells
Principle
The luminal surface of the animal respiratory tract is mainly covered with a pseudociliated columnar epithelium, which consists of four types of cells: columnar, cupular, spindle, and cone. The tip of the columnar epithelial cells extends many slender cilia, and each columnar cell has as many as 200-300 cilia, which can move autonomously in a directional manner. Therefore, take the epithelial tissue of the luminal surface of the respiratory tract of the animal, cut into small thin slices, and under the microscope, the cilia of the epithelial cells can be seen to move autonomously.

Before the experiment, the toads were soaked in warm water for 3-4 hours to enhance the physiological activity of columnar epithelial cells.
2. Sampling and preparation
(1) Toads were killed by medullary amputation.
(2) Take the mucous membrane of the upper jaw and cut it into small thin slices.
(3) Place it on a slide with a few drops of 0.65% NaCl aqueous solution and cover with a coverslip.
(4) Observe under the microscope
