Descripción general
Polysucrose (renamed from Ficoll™) is a polymer which displays excellent biocompatibility. Polysucrose is more sensitive to acid than dextran so that care must be taken when working at acid pH. All batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free FITC. Aladdin produce FITC-polysucrose from 20 kDa to 400 kDa. FITC-polysucroses are supplied as a yellow powder.
Structure
Polysucrose is a polymer synthesised by cross-linking sucrose with epichlorohydrin. FITC-Polysucrose is prepared by reacting polysucrose with FITC under similar conditions to those used for FITC-dextrans. Polysucrose has a more spherical structure and is less flexible compared to dextran
Spectral data
FITC-polysucrose has an excitation maximum of 493 and an emission maximum at 523 nm at pH 9.
Application
FITC-polysucrose is mainly used for studying permeability and microcirculation. Due to its spherical structure, it is often used for studies of glomerular filtration.
