Descripción general

Gelatin is a powdered substance derived primarily from animal skin and bones through processes such as washing, soaking, hydrolysis, filtration, gelation, and crushing. It has no fixed structure or relative molecular weight and is a colorless, odorless, non-volatile, transparent, and hard amorphous material. Gelatin is soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water; however, it can slowly absorb water, swell, and soften, absorbing 5-10 times its own weight in water. Its main components are amino acids and a mixture of polypeptides with similar compositions but a wide molecular weight distribution. It is widely used in the food, pharmaceutical, and chemical industries.

Gelatin Aqueous Solution (2%, PCR Grade) is composed of high-purity gelatin and deionized water. It is sterilely processed and typically appears as a pale yellow viscous liquid or gel at room temperature. It must be heated to dissolve before use.

This product is often used as an adhesive or additive and can improve amplification efficiency in PCR reactions. Its specific functions are as follows:

• Suitable for PCR amplification of GC-rich templates.
• Enhances the stability of Taq DNA polymerase.

Note: Although gelatin can improve PCR amplification efficiency, it is a relatively weak enhancer and is less effective than betaine.

Procedure

1. This product appears as a gel at room temperature and needs to be heated to dissolve before use. Place it in a 60-70°C water bath and incubate until completely melted. Mix gently before use.
2. Add this product to the PCR reaction system according to the specific requirements of the experiment to achieve the desired working concentration.

Precautions

1. To avoid contamination and reduced amplification efficiency, ensure aseptic handling and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
2. If the usage amount per experiment is small, it can be appropriately aliquoted before storage.
3. This product is for research use only and is not intended for direct human application or clinical diagnosis.
4. For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
