Descripción general

ITS Plus consists of recombinant human IGF-1, recombinant transferrin, sodium selenite and other components. It contains no phenol red. As a supplement for basal cell culture media, it can reduce the usage of fetal bovine serum during the culture of various cells, and is commonly applied in serum-free or low-serum cell culture.

IGF-1 is a polypeptide hormone with pleiotropic anabolic effects on mammalian cells. It facilitates the uptake of glucose and amino acids, lipogenesis, transport of monovalent cations and phosphates, as well as the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids. Transferrin acts as an intracellular iron carrier and helps mitigate the toxicity of oxygen free radicals and peroxides. Sodium selenite serves as a cofactor for glutathione peroxidase and other proteins, functioning as an antioxidant in culture media.
