Determination of urease activity in soybean meal

Summary

Crushed soybean products were mixed with a neutral urea buffer solution and kept at 30°C for 30 min before urease catalyzed the reaction of urea hydrolysis to produce ammonia. The ammonia produced was neutralized with an excess of hydrochloric acid solution and back titrated with a standard solution of hydroxide.
