Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein present in exocrine secretions and in the secondary granules of polymorphonuclear neutrophils. Lactoferrin is known to regulate intestinal iron absorption, and to participate in the defense against bacteria. Prepared from whole blood shown to be non reactive for HBsAg, anti-HCV, anti-HBc, and negative for anti-HIV 1 & 2 by FDA-required tests. nproducts are laboratory reagents and are not to be administered to humans or used for any drug purpose.
