Orange G is a chemical substance with the molecular formula C₁₆H₁₀N₂Na₂O₇S₂. It appears as a yellowish-red powder or crystalline flakes, soluble in water and ethanol, but insoluble in ether and chloroform. Its aqueous solution is orange-yellow, and its ethanol solution is orange. Hydrochloric acid causes no change to the aqueous solution; it turns yellowish-red in the presence of sodium hydroxide, and forms crystalline calcium salt with calcium chloride. Its maximum absorption wavelength is 475 nm.
Application:
Acid-base indicator with a pH transition range of 11.5 (yellow) to 14.0 (orange-red).
Precautions:
1. For your safety and health, please wear a lab coat and disposable gloves during operation.
